Celebrate Songkran at SABA - 10th April - 19th April 2014
On Sunday, 13th of April, SABA will be ringing in ‘Songkran’ or Thai New Year. Derived from a Thai word meaning ‘move’ or ‘change place’, Songkran is celebrated when the sun changes position in the zodiac, moving into Aries and beginning a new astrological year. To celebrate the New Year in style, SABA’s own 10-day Thai New Year festival will start on Thursday, 10th April and continue until Saturday, 19th of April.
Highlights of the festival include an exclusive Thai master class, which will be hosted by SABA’s Executive Chef Taweesak Trakoolwattana (Tao) and Cocktail Mixologist Karim Medhi. Taking place in the restaurant on Saturday, 12th April from 12-2pm, this unique Thai tasting experience will see Executive chef Tao preparing four traditional Thai dishes in front of guests. Head Mixologist Karim will then create four matching cocktails and the team will explain why the ingredients and flavour combinations used complement each other. With limited places available, tickets to the master class are priced €60 and can be booked by calling SABA on 01-679 2000.
For the 10-days of the festival, there will be voucher giveaways and bundles of exciting prizes to win in the restaurant. SABA will also be celebrating Songkran by featuring some special additions to the menu. Dishes include:
