ABOUT SABA

Authenticity you can taste in every bite.

Saba is an award-winning Thai & Vietnamese Eatery and Cocktail Bar, brought to life in 2006 by the Founder and Managing Director Paul Cadden and Executive Head Chef Taweesak Trakoolwattana (Tao). The first location opened on Clarendon Street in Dublin City centre. 2016 saw the second Saba restaurant on Baggot Street Upper come to life. 2020 was the busiest year yet, as Saba relocated from Clarendon Street to South William Street, along with opening a third restaurant in Kildare Village.

The Saba Restaurant Group consists of three restaurants, two in Dublin City Centre and one in the Kildare Village and three Saba To Go takeaways, located across South Dublin. We also have two food trucks that pop up at various festivals and events across the country.

ABOUT SABA

The words ‘Sa’ and ‘Ba’ mean ‘happy meeting place’ and this sums up what Saba is all about. A place to meet friends and family, and enjoy reasonably priced, delicious authentic food with fantastic cocktails and professional friendly service. Saba is very fortunate that many of their team has been with Saba for over ten years, some right back to day one. They started as waiters and now work as supervisors, sous chefs, head chefs, and General Managers. They give Saba its pulse and are its heart. You can feel something magical as you walk through the doors of Saba!

SABA TO GO

Restaurant quality food at home.

Family is at the core of the Saba brand, and it is evident throughout the company. From skilled chefs to the welcoming faces at the front of the house, we proudly embrace multiple generations from the same families within the Saba community. Alan, the brother of our founder Paul, takes charge at Saba To Go, embodying the familial spirit that defines our brand. The success of Saba Clarendon Street inspired ‘Saba To Go,’ a takeaway brand of Saba. In 2007, the first Saba To Go takeaway opened its doors in Rathmines, marking the beginning of a new adventure. Expanding our reach, Saba To Go extended its presence to Windy Arbour in 2016 and further to Deansgrange in 2018. Each new establishment carries the essence of family, creating a seamless extension of the Saba legacy in every neighbourhood we serve.
Saba To Go aims to bring restaurant-quality food to your home without compromising nutrition and flavour. All our packaging has been carefully selected and is biodegradable so that we continue to leave a positive eco-footprint while highlighting climate change and the need for action.

SABA: The Cookbook

BEST ASIAN COOKBOOK IN THE WORLD

In 2012, Paul Cadden and Executive Chef Taweesak Trakoolwattana wrote and published ‘Saba: The Cookbook’. The cookbook is beautifully illustrated throughout, and all the recipes have been tested in a domestic kitchen. Authenticity is the key, and the Saba recipes in the book remain true to the origins of Thai and Vietnamese cuisine.

The idea for writing Saba: The Cookbook was to raise vital funds for The Children’s Hospital at Crumlin and the Thai Red Cross. The book was a huge success and went on to win seven awards globally so far, while also raising vital funds.

The Cookbook beat prestigious competition from around the globe and went on to win many awards including ‘The Gourmand Award: Best Asian Cookbook in the World’ as well as ‘Best Asian Cookbook in the World in the last 20 years’. The Gourmand Awards are otherwise known as the ‘Oscars of the cookbook world’ in the publishing world.
